It is suitable for compressors used in engines with large air consumption and high boost pressure ratios. As the pressure ratio and air consumption increase, the advantages of the closed impeller become more pronounced. However, closed impeller is heavier and larger, and its manufacturing process is more difficult than the semi-open impeller.
